A tibetan nomad is weaving yak hair for their new tent, one of the most precious possessions to Tibetan nomads - its size shows the wealth of the family. Yak hair is sheared from the family’s yaks and collected over a long time until there is enough to make a tent (like the one in the background). The whole process is done by hand, by the housewife.
Donated by a Living Buddha of Zhuqing Monastery (Nyingmapa or Red Sect), the pagoda was built in 1997 with over 100kg pure gold to commemorate the 10th Panchen Lama. Behind the pagoda stands the 5800 meters high Mt. Yala. The peaks are covered by snow year-round. It is worshipped by Tibetan as the patron saint of the area.
